The pleasure of a shared table.

A long supper table set for friends to gather

A good gathering rarely needs a complicated plan. It needs a little thought about the people coming, a clear idea of the evening, and enough room for the conversation to find its own pace.

Choose a rhythm, not a running order.

Think about when everyone arrives, when the first food reaches the table and when the evening might finish. Leave the space between those moments unhurried.

Make the food easy to enjoy.

Sharing plates can help people settle in. Agree the menu before the day, and speak directly to the venue about dietary needs and access. A menu label is a starting point for a conversation.

Give the numbers some attention.

Know what the price covers. In our fictional Long Room, food has a £640 minimum spend and the room adds £80. Drinks and optional pairings sit outside the food subtotal. A clear estimate leaves fewer surprises.

Add one personal detail.

A favourite song at arrival. A short toast. A handwritten place name. One thoughtful thing often feels more personal than a room full of decorations.

Give your gathering a starting point.

Our private supper planner shows the room, menu and guest-count estimate together.
