One wheel. Your first bowl.
Meet your new favourite kind of spin.
Meet the wheel, find your centre and throw a small bowl. A gentle first go with one wheel per maker.
A little of what to expect
We begin with a quick demonstration, then it is your turn. Learn how a small lump of stoneware becomes a centred, open form. Your tutor helps you find pressure, balance and an even wall without rushing the process.
- Get comfortable with your wheel and clay
- Practise centering, opening and lifting
- Choose a favourite small piece for us to finish
Ready when you arrive.
- Clay, tools and an apron
- One selected piece trimmed, glazed and fired by the studio
- Collection in 4–6 weeks
Tea, water and an apron are available. Wear closed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting clay on.
From clay to keepsake.
We will trim your selected bowl, apply a clear or soft white studio glaze and fire it twice. Pieces are usually ready to collect in 4–6 weeks. Handmade clay can change in the kiln; a finished piece is never guaranteed.

Clay has a way of wobbling. We keep spare clay ready and treat every restart as part of learning.
