Introductory pieces usually take 4–6 weeks to dry, be fired and glazed. Glaze test tiles usually take 2–3 weeks. These are illustrative studio timings. Your tutor explains how a real studio would arrange collection.

Wet clay is fragile and still needs drying and firing. Included pieces stay with the studio. Once fired, a real studio would confirm collection arrangements. A successful final piece cannot be guaranteed because clay can change in the kiln.

The illustrative workshops use studio-supplied clay and glazes. Unknown materials cannot be put into the studio firing process. Speak to a real studio about its material policy before bringing outside work.
